After a great few days away at a lovely Spa Hotel in Cheltenham last week, I came home raring to catch up on my blog…. It wasn’t to be as my laptop decided to send out some ‘smoke’ and had to be switched off before it set on fire!!! Yikes..
So, I apologise for not ‘catching up’ with your posts over the last week and for being very limited with my posts too…
I am now back up and running with a new Asus Laptop which I purchased from John Lewis Store yesterday and my son assures me has a specification that will ‘meet my blogging needs’… I’ll give some further details soon and let you know what I think of it..
However, I’m no techy expert and this is where I miss having sons living at home, as I can no longer call on them for immediate assistance and although I’ve managed to set the new laptop basics up, there seems to be a lot more to sort out than with my old laptop.. There are lots of new ‘taster’ programmes which I’ve never heard of and haven’t got a clue whether I should be using them or not… aghhhh…. how frustrating!!
Well at least I’m back up on WordPress and I can therefore get back to a more regular ‘posting’ and ‘reading’ routine this week…. Phew!
Hopefully it’s a case of ‘watch this space’ for new posts coming VERY soon.. and thanks for your patience and in the meantime, here’s a few cute pictures from a fun weekend with my granddaughters.. oh and some cute ‘doggy pics’ too!
Great and so cute little darlings Wendy. Enjoy and have a blast, life is too short to not have a blast.

Aww – thanks so much.. I’m sure I will but at the moment I’m still trying to get it ‘set up’ and learn where everything is! Very much appreciated and I hope your cough is improving too! x

Thanks Mr P – we had a lovely break – pretty idyllic where we stayed.. I’ll be posting some pics very shortly…. All I need now is to get my head around this new laptop as everything is taking me twice as long as it should! Ahh well – it’s clearly my age.. that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it! Hope you’re well too? xx

Just saw your pics on your latest post. Do you use a phone? Or a camera? Which brand/make? Looks like a grand place where you were. You’re not that old but I know what you mean-you’ll get around to working on your new laptop. I’m fine thank you 🙂

Hi Mr P – I use the Cannon G7X Mark 2 which is a really neat little camera that I bought last year. It’s not a DSLR but takes really nice photos although it’s a bit like the laptop – I’m ‘learning’… work in progress, on how to use it! These were all taken with the ‘auto’ setting… I’ll get there in the end..
I’m glad you’re well and your right it was a fab place and what was lovely is that the staff were really friendly too.. xx

Ok, well it makes nice pics. My girlfriend bought a Panasonic Lumix last year but somehow it won’t focus right. Tell me about setting and manuals. I don’t like all these million settings. My Nikon is quite good which is a DSLR but I don’t use it enough as it’s heavy.

My son’s girlfriend who is a semi professional blogger has a Cannon DSLR and the Olympus Pen but she’s going to sell the Olympus and get the Cannon G7X like mine. It’s really good at videos too and is very neat and lightweight so easy to carry around… Well it is if you have a handbag – to match your red dress and coat! x

Will get the handbag, red dress and coat first and then the camera haha. I’ll look the part, the queer part lol 😂

Oh Wendy, they’re all absolutely adorable. Good luck with all your tech issues, computer probs are such a nuisance but I hope it’s all sorted now.
I’m currently on a riverside summer mini break for a few days with the hub. And it’s hot, hot, hot! Good thing we’re by a river. Kids didn’t want to come this time so it’s just the two of us. 😊

Oh that’s brilliant Miriam and sounds idyllic! I’m ‘slowly’ getting to grips with the new laptop but it’s very different to the old one so it’s going to take a while before I’m up to speed I suspect… well that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!!! My hub goes back to work tomorrow so obviously the lack of blog posts has had nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that we had a few days away during which we completely relaxed and now it’s difficult to properly get going again! I’m sure you’re having a lovely time and sounds just what the Doctor ordered! Enjoy and sending big hugs xx

A few days away completely relaxing … yes, it’s little wonder you wrote no blog posts. I’m in exactly the same boat now. No blogging, just the occasional checking in and messaging with my favorite people and then back to relaxing by the river. Hard life! 😊 Massive hugs back Wendy xo

Haha Miriam – Absolutely – sometimes we just need to ‘enjoy the moment’ … although I did keep taking pics for future blog posts – I couldn’t resist.. I hope you’ve had a magical day lazing about on the river…. Yep – hard life! haha …. I bet you’re enjoying a lovely evening stargazing too….. xxx

Hey Wendy, I’ve just come in from a wonderful night of star gazing, talking and relaxing to the sounds of nature . I know what you mean about taking pics, my hub keeps telling me to stop it but I just can’t help myself! Guess us bloggers are all the same. Trying to capture and preserve the moment. Big hugs xo

Thanks Brigid.. I’ll get there in the end but I suspect it’ll take a wee bit longer as I’ve still not managed to connect up the printer yet… Ahh well – I can blame it on my age! xx

Thanks Samantha – I don’t know about your son but mine rush through the ‘fix’ so quickly that I’m about 10 steps behind so never quite become ‘independent’ with it all.. Good Luck!!! xxx

Do you know…maybe buying a book about it, a “How To” one would be an idea…better than a video because it’s always there, it’s not going to rush..you can take your time…my son is quite patient but I won’t be able to bother him when he’s at Uni LOL! xx

yes that’s probably a very good suggestion Samantha.. I’ve plodded along with my old laptop because I knew it well but yep – technology is definitely on my reading and learning list for 2017. It applies to my camera too.. I’ve just bought a ‘how to Twitter’ guide so that’s a start.. all I have to do now is ‘open it’ and start reading!! haha xx

I’m set up on Twitter but I messed up initially and I’ve tried to delete the account and start again but it’s easier said than done! Hopefully the book will give me a clue… xx

YIKES – whatever you do don’t come looking for help in my direction on this one – In the words of my wonderfully supportive sons… “Mum… you’ve had a mare” (sorry that’s probably a sexist comment and someone will no doubt let me know – yikes!) I wish you much SUCCESS with your twitter set up Samantha – haha xx

Lol!!! My son says “Are we being blonde again?” but he’s very patient! I find that writing stuff down, step by step, helps fix it in my head. Repetition is the key :)xx

Yep you’re right Samantha, I need to set up an IT notebook (a paper one of course)… I’ve definitely had many ‘blonde’ moments too haha! x

I am totally in sympathy with you having to buy a new laptop and the hours of setting it up the way you want it Wendy. I am just about comfortable with my new laptop after the old one became the Matrix and couldn’t be repaired.
Those are happy photos in this post ! 🙂 ❤

I did think about you when it ‘failed’ Ralph.. I’m glad your sorted and hopefully I will be ‘competent’ with this one soon although I’ve still not worked out the ‘printer’ yet! Oh well – hey ho and at least I’ve got some bloggers who understand…. Thanks Ralph and I’m glad you enjoyed the photo’s… xx

Oh no, don’t say that you have a printer problem as well Wendy. I bought my printer when I was still using Windows XP. This laptop uses Windows 10 and refuses to recognise the disc that came with the printer. I can’t even access the files on the disc, so my printer is now useless. I have bought a new printer, but it is still in its box as I have so much else going on at the moment.
Good luck my friend and I hope that you can get your printer working. ❤ xox

Children are invaluable when it comes to technology! Did you have an HP computer before? My husband asked to me check the battery last weekend because of recalls in the U.S. Fortunately ours was on the ok list… for now. I don’t like buying new computers because of the ever-changing Microsoft software. I also have a computer which runs on Ubuntu (Linux) and I love it: nothing but the basic functionalities!

Oh they certainly are.. even my 4 year old granddaughter teaches me new things which is a bit scary! haha ..
No my laptop was a Toshiba and to be fair, we’ve talked about replacing it for a while and it was a ‘dropping it on the floor’ incident which caused it’s final demise… I’m getting there with the new one ‘slowly’… time will tell! x
