Law Of Attraction Part 4: How to Accept The Unexpected

Many books have been written about the Law of Attraction and The Secret and yet rarely do they explain that when you add something onto your Vision Board or write down a new Goal in your journal, that you may have to experience EXTREME discomfort before you see the final result become a reality in your life….

Let me give you just one of the many personal examples I’ve experienced, to illustrate this and hopefully take away some of the Fear and help you to Accept that often these things are happening for a reason….

Accept the Unexpected

When I created my first Vision Board, I added a picture of a black jaguar car, because my husband had once said he’d love to have one, so I’d cut out a picture when I saw it and added it nonchalantly onto my board.. never really expecting that this would be achievable. It certainly didn’t ‘feel’ achievable at that time in our lives when we were bringing up our family and always ‘strapped for cash’…

At the time, we’d had a Rover 75 for several years and we loved that car… It was the first car we’d been able to buy that wasn’t a complete ‘banger’……

Although we’d purchased the Rover 75 as a second hand car, it was a ‘top of the Rover range’ at that time and had luxurious heated leather seats and a walnut dashboard – very vintage looking and we loved it.  We also had a small Peugeot 206 which I drove and which was a Company Lease Car.

Shortly after creating the Vision Board with the picture of the Black Jaguar on it, I changed jobs and although the new job was a step up financially, it didn’t come with a Company Car so we were down to sharing the Rover 75 which wasn’t great but we managed with a bit of juggling..

A few weeks later, one of my nieces asked me to drive her to Hertfordshire (about2-3 hours drive.. ). We were about 3/4’s of the way there when she observed how comfortable the Rover 75 was.

“Oh yes” I said…. “It’s a lovely car, it’s known as the poor man’s jag… It’s been so reliable and we love it”…….

As I was speaking, we were speeding along in the outside lane of the motorway, overtaking lots of other cars… (obviously within the speed limit… I’m sure..…).

Within seconds of me expounding the virtues of that Rover, there was an almighty CRASH sound from the engine and I lost all power… I had to coast with no power from the fast lane, across the 3 lane motorway and onto the hard shoulder where a pool of oil then spewed from underneath my beautiful and much loved Rover 75….

The car had to be towed back to Manchester and to cut a long story short, it was a write off – unrepairable.. The engine had blown up and it turned out to be a ‘rare engine’ and we were unable to replace it.

So – we had now gone down from having 2 cars to zero cars within a matter of weeks, which was pretty tough!

“Hrumph….” I complained…

“So much for The Law Of Attraction…..”

What I didn’t recognise at that time was this was a clear sign that the Law of Attraction was preparing to ‘deliver’ a gift from the Universe…

After a week of struggling to commute to work on public transport, I arrived into the office for a meeting with the Chief Executive .. “Oh Wendy.. I forgot to mention…. we’ve reviewed the Company Car Scheme and you’re now going to be eligible for a Company Car and we’d like you to be the first to test out the new scheme….”

Yep – you guessed it… within just a couple of weeks, I was driving a Black Jaguar Car..

My contribution was only £10.00 per month more, than I’d previously contributed to the Peugeot 206 in my previous job.

The Universe had created a set of circumstances that meant we’d gone from 2 cars to zero cars, with no option to repair….

Over the many years I’ve been practicing The Law of Attraction, that’s been my experience. I often go through a period of extreme discomfort and a door has to fully close with ‘no going back’.

In this example, the car was a ‘write off’ .. there was no option to try and repair it and yet within weeks, the door opened to a brand new Black Jag!

It’s happened so frequently that I now recognise ‘the signs’, of those ducks lining up in a row, even if those ducks are closing the doors behind them!

I’ve written previously about other examples where things have happened very unexpectedly in order to produce the best long term outcome.. Have You Ever Had A DIY Disaster? and DIY Disaster Part 2: Sometimes Things Have To Get Worse Before Getting Better… With only a few more bits and pieces to be finished, I’m now looking at a fabulous new kitchen which wasn’t what I expected at the start of my DIY journey… (Finished kitchen pictures to follow in a couple of weeks.. ).

So instead of feeling devastated when something ‘extreme and unexpected’ starts to appear in my life, I now get a slight feeling of excitement and I accept that things are happening as they are meant to, in order for me to benefit in the long term as my ‘dreams’ become a reality.

I hope that my examples help you to recognise ‘those signs’ of the LOA working for you, even though it doesn’t feel like it… My word of caution though is to ‘Be careful what you wish for’ – you never know what may have to be taken away first and which door may bang well and truly shut behind you in order to achieve it… So, make sure your dream is really ‘your dream’ and not someone elses!

It’s important to raise your vibration and learn to accept that in order for the Law of Attraction to provide the result you have dreamed of, you may experience some events that were more extreme than you expected.

When you start to notice things ‘going wrong’.. remind yourself that this is the Law Of Attraction helping you close doors firmly shut so that the next door can be opened.. you know the one – it’s that door that leads forward to your ‘dreams’…

Accept that these things are happening for a reason and feel excited, because your dreams are on the way!

  1. Thanks for that Wendy. It is indeed hard to believe when things are not looking bright, but I guess hope is all we have sometimes. My specific problem however is I cannot seem to put my finger on something that would really make me happy. Lets see…

  2. There you go again…. making real sense of the sense in a clear voice that doesn’t frost and frou-frou but actually let’s the light in. And you add an ‘oh bollocks’ …. what’s not to love! And I’m now confident that when the Universe drops a bucket of shit on my head I can rely on the fact that it’s part of the process. My husband is currently in the US with my stepson and went armed with board and notebooks as a gift from the evil stepmother because J is really in need of engaging with the law of attraction and hubby (remember he’s a scientist so these things can be hard for him) is in awe of the change in me recently which is down to following your clear guidance. 1. Way to go Osyth!! I’m so chuffed that you’ve found some inspiration in this series and that now that is rippling out to your stepson.. So many people are sceptical and I can understand your hubby being a scientist not quite getting it. I explain it that often we close our mind to the possibilities that are all around us all the time and doing a vision board takes us from tunnel vision to periphery vision where we see possibilities instead of closing our mind to them… Yep now you can feel a sense of excitement when the pile of crap falls.. Haha 😂😉😚 I can’t wait to read more of your successes… see I’ve already read the first… a positive change in your mood and relationships… Yep good things are en route.. xx

  3. This is hilarious haha
I actually stopped giving gratitude towards my car, because whenever i did, something broke down.
I never looked at it from that angle, maybe the universe wants me to have a better one too (dont have any on my vision board tho because im happy enough with the current one).
    Funny 🙂 xx

  4. Why did I get extreme goosebumps reading your words Wendy? You know what’s going on in my life so I’m sure you understand what I mean. Yes, perhaps everything does happen for a reason, even when we can’t see clearly what it is. Discomfort, worries, struggles are perhaps a prelude for what lies around the corner, at least that’s what I’m hoping. Love the example of your car and love love, love the positive messages here my friend. Thank you for another inspiring post. xo

    1. Brilliant – thanks Brigid.. Life would be much duller if we couldn’t have a smile wouldn’t it! Very much appreciated – I’m hoping that the ‘finishing touches’ are going to be done next Monday – fingers – It’s made a massive difference though so the ‘touches’ will just be the icing on the cake for me! xx

  5. Amazing, as always! I have been struggling recently, both at work and personally, and this post has reminded me that all things happen for a reason. Maybe the LOA is working for my higher good. Can’t wait for the next post in this series!

  6. OMG Wendy that’s remarkable! I’m a huge Law of Attraction fan, as a matter of fact Abraham Hicks is going to be nearby me in May and I’m trying to make arrangements to go see her/him. I’m very excited about it and will write about it if I do. It’s a wonderful feeling when things start to go wrong and you know why and what it means!!! Hope you’ve been wonderful…need to follow-up on your kitchen now, can’t wait to see. xo

        1. Hey Deb – don’t wait… this is an amazing opportunity not to be missed.. Be brave if necessary and go alone.. you’ll meet some brilliant people – you won’t be on your own for long. I recently went to the Public Speaker University in London on my own and within minutes, I’d met some great people. Go and ENJOY… and if your friend comes to that’s a bonus or simply wasn’t meant to be because it was right for you to go it alone.. xx

          1. You’re right about that. I read your story about how you went to the Public Speaker meeting, that was so fabulous. It is an amazing opportunity and I’m really excited about it. So I guess one way or another I’ll be there!! Thanks. xo
