Manchester 50+ Blogger Says Fashion and Makeup Can Be Fun Not Frumpy This Spring!

I’m so glad I bought this velvet top from Next as I love the lace detail against the velvet and it looks great for daytime or evening. The colour is unusual… somewhere between a dusky pink and light brownish… and it looks good with either black or cream.

It looks like the ‘lace detail’ is still popular moving into Spring, so I’ll be able to keep wearing this over the next few months.. (it washes beautifully – I wouldn’t want you to get the wrong impression!)

Although this velvet top is no longer showing on the NEXT website, there are lots of lovely alternative lace detail is still popular moving into the Spring as seen in this example from NEXT:

Add some lace glam to your outfit with this Lipsy Love Michelle Keegan short sleeve blouse. This bang on trend top with lace detailing makes it a wardrobe staple all year round. Pair with a high waisted skirt to complete the look.
Washing instructions: 40 degree wash. Slightly pricy though at £40.00!

So maybe this lace detail t-shirt from Dorothy Perkins and available at Debenhams on Sale for just £9.60 may be better!

That lace on the sleeves adds a bit of glamour whilst also covering the dreaded batwings!! What do you think?

As for makeup, I’m going with the softer ‘dewy’ look for the Spring and toning down from the ‘red’ lips of winter to a softer rose pink. This particular lipstick is from Christian Dior (sorry – can’t read the colour as I’ve had it a while..). I’m sticking with the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation applied with a ‘stippling brush’ so it’s not quite so heavy and gives a softer look whilst still covering my ‘imperfections’! (Stippling brush – haha – hubby would tell you it’s a ‘trowel’!!)

And of course.. if we’re talking a ‘bit of fun’ – You can’t beat some soft gold shoes and what do you think of my beret! Not sure why my family laugh when I wear it!!!

Oh and talking of Makeup…. Is it Just Me?

    1. Oh wow – that looks great Bella.. My only problem is I’m ploughing through an on line course at the moment on ‘monetising blogs’.. I’m going to keep a note of this though for future use.. Thank you for thinking about me with this one and also thanks for your lovely compliment Bella – much appreciated! x

  1. The colour of the top really compliments your hair colour and skin! You look beautiful. I agree about the top with feminine detailing. I am also really into ruffle detail and bell sleeves this spring. Let’s enjoy feeling elegant and opulent! X

  2. Love that blouse and its lace! I love the lace sleeves on that other top too. There’s a line on QVC called Denim & Co., and they have those lace sleeve blouses at a great price too. That soft rose lipstick is perfect I really love it. Your beret is the best of all!! Yeah I have my messy moments too, especially when I drop the mascara in the sink and the black gets everywhere…oh well!! You look beautiful, thanks for sharing. xo
