Your Dreams Are Waiting…

Within our hearts, our dreams are waiting for us to discover.

 “Listen to your heart’s desires”

I’ve done several posts about Vision Boarding which can really help us notice the dreams that are hiding in our ‘blind spot’. They are there all the time but maybe we just haven’t recognised them.

Maybe you’ve done some soul searching and you now know what your dreams and goals are but for some reason you are prevaricating and not moving forward to achieve them?

Often, we know where we want to be, we know what the end goal is that we want to achieve but it seems impossible and there are too many things standing in the way… We’re too busy or we haven’t got enough money etc. etc. etc…….

Let me share with you THE SECRET….

How quickly we move toward our dreams is up to us. Standing still though is not an option if we want to turn our dreams into reality….

How do you eat an elephant?…..

One Piece At A Time!

(Before I get reported for cruelty to animals.. Please be assured that I’m definitely Not For ‘eating’ elephants – they are one of my favourite mammals – wise and family orientated and certainly to be protected!)

My point is, that no matter how LARGE or DAUNTING the task, chunking it down into smaller goals makes it feel more achievable and easier to take that first step.

Once I’ve moved out of my ‘blind spot’ and recognised one of my goals/dreams (and they get added to.. they aren’t necessarily all ‘fixed in stone’), I create a ‘Focus Dream Board’ 5 Steps to Create Your ‘Focus’ Vision Board and then I start my Dream Plan Book…. (Watch this space for future post coming soon on …. How To Create a Dream Plan Book)

So for example, we may have a dream of ‘travelling the world’ but we haven’t yet got the funds in the bank to be able to achieve this. It feels ‘impossible’ and therefore we take no action.

However, it doesn’t cost anything to start researching which countries you would love to visit or to plan the route you would take. It doesn’t cost anything to ‘price it up’ and start to put plans into writing.. how would you travel? plane/ferry/train/car – how much would that cost?

If we know what our dream/goal is, regardless of how BIG or small that dream is and whatever it is, we can start to write down our plans. Doing this will make our dreams ‘feel real’ and achievable.

Once we start to plan it, it feels ‘BELIEVABLE’ and once we believe it could be a real possibility, we start to notice OPPORTUNITIES that have been hiding in our ‘blind spot’ alongside our ‘dreams’… and suddenly the MOMENTUM starts to build, we get EXCITED and can feel that ‘inner stirring’ within us……. Yep… that feeling of the ‘Brilliance Within’ that is bursting to reveal itself externally……..

How slowly or how quickly we move is up to us.. the critical thing though is that we ‘do move’ and we don’t become rooted in one spot…

We never know what is waiting round the next corner and I realise how much time I’ve wasted over the years, holding myself back through ‘fear of the unknown’. However, I’m determined that every day, I now take some action toward ensuring I fulfil my dreams and don’t look back on my life with regret for the dreams, goals and ambitions I didn’t achieve.. 1. Oh Wendy, I remember that beautiful poem that you wrote so well and it still resonates. This post, as you can probably imagine, was so timely for me as I put the finishing touches on my vision board. Yes, we have to believe that we can move forward, little steps at a time and start to plan. That’s how it was when we decided to buy our camper and then making a decision to travel to the Red centre in June (which is somewhere I’ve always wanted to go). Great inspiring post my friend. Here!s to a year of working towards our goals and dreams. Have a lovely weekend. xo

    1. I can tell Miriam that your tunnel vision glasses are also well and truly in that bin forever! Our dreams are calling loudly and now at last we’re starting to listen.. Well done for taking some amazing action toward fulfilling life dreams and long may it continue! We were the same with our ‘tent purchase’ last year.. We want to use it to travel over to Europe and that’s definitely on the cards for either later this year or Spring 2018… Exciting times ahead! x

      1. Oh that’s amazing Wendy. I could write you ablonger response (and any other time I would) but I’ve suddenly realised I’m incredibly tired (after a deep philosophical talk with my son) and it’s nearly 1am! So, good night my sweet friend. 💤xo

          1. I hope you have a lovely day Miriam.. I’m just off to sleep after a very chilled day. I normally have my granddaughters for sleepover at the weekend but they were out at parties etc. so it was a quiet but very relaxing day.. They’re all over for lunch tomorrow and my younger son returned from a skiing trip in Austria today so he’ll be over too so Sunday is likely to be busy, noisy and full of fun – just the way I like it! Have a brilliant day! x

          6. Oh Wendy, the plumbing has turned into a fiasco. He couldn’t plumb it up and now we have to go back to the suppliers. Lots of issues with being unable to connect to town gas. Looks like I have a lot of running around to do today and thus week. And no gas cooker for awhile. Ah, these things are meant to test us aren’t they? I have to keep reminding myself, there could be far worse things in life. Hugs P.S the postie hasn’t been yet.

          7. Oh yikes Miriam.. that sounds a bit of a nightmare.. I’m just reading a book called ‘flip it’ so putting that into practice… On the bright side.. no gas cooker means less expectation from the family for ‘home cooked meals’.. You can pretend your ‘camping at home’ instead and then it could be fun.. And you’ve helped me appreciate how lucky I am as I sit here warming up with the Central heating on..
You’re right though.. sometimes these things happen to make us ‘stop’ and remember what’s important and to re-focus attention… I hope it’s starting to resolve itself and you had a successful trip to the suppliers.. If not… Happy Camping!.. xxx (now you can ‘kill me’..haha)

            Liked by 1 person

          8. Haha, I’m not gonna kill you! 😏 Actually we had a bit of luck this afternoon with another plumber who gave us a completely different scenario. So I’m hopeful that by the end of the week, all going well, I’ll no longer have to cook on the bbq and pretend I’m camping (and yep, the family still expects home cooked meals). Enjoy your Flip it book (sounds like something I’d do to my eggs in the morning, if my hot plate was working!) 😊 xo

          9. Phew.. glad I’m not being roasted on the bbq – I probably deserved it. Brilliant news though re: plumber and hopefully it will all be sorted soon.. Yep – I like my eggs ‘over easy’ (flipped) too .. so it’ll be fine when we meet in Llanfair….. gillygillygogopuff for our camping trip! x

          10. Haha, how I love you! You make me laugh. Off to have some fruit on my cereal and a late breakfast. No eggs for me this morning unfortunately. It’s going to be a cooker here today (and I’m not talking about a bbq either)😊 Big hugs xo

          11. It’s a good job the shower’s cold then.. every cloud has a silver lining.. Oh no.. sorry – you ain’t got ‘clouds’ that’s the problem. Well we’ve got plenty of clouds and drizzly rain to make up for the ‘hot hot hot’ weather your sizzling in. Have a ‘chilled’ day in the sizzling sunshine! haha xxx

          12. Well I’m looking outside and we do have a few clouds, but not many, the shower was warm (not cold, ouch!) and I’ve just finished my cereal and cuppa. And then, finally, I’m going to finish my vision board. Yay! Life’s not too bad. Big hugs 😊 xo

          13. Fabulous Miriam – Sounds like the perfect day for finishing your Vision Board! Well we’ve been at my mother in laws today and am now sat in bed pondering what my next ‘post’ will be with a nice cup of tea.. I’m out all day tomorrow on a training day so if your parcel hasn’t arrived by tomorrow, I’ll go to the post office on Wednesday.. Fingers xx as it’s not looking good. Big hugs returned xx Enjoy your ‘visioning’! x

          14. Enjoy the pondering Wendy,I’ll look forward to visiting your blog very soon. Hope your training day goes well and yes, not sure what’s happened with the ‘snail mail’ parcel. You’re right, it’s not looking good. Hopefully you can track it. Now off to make a late lunch, I’m feeling a bit scattered today, though at least my vision board is done. Yay. xo 😊

Hope you had a good lunch and WELL DONE for finishing the Vision Board.. Fab and now all you have to do is look at it every day – morning and especially night before you go to bed…. and then wait for the unexpected opportunities to start appearing…
The training today was really good – very inspiring and accessed me a 3 day motivational training long weekend in London in Feb which also looks fabulous so 4 days Free Training – can’t be bad! All from a bit of ‘visioning’ too… Speak soon xx

          16. Wendy that sounds absolutely fabulous. I’m so glad it went well, sounds like those opportunities for you are well and truly coming to life. I’m so pleased. As for me, well yesterday I hit a real slump, probably my lowest day in a long time. A lot of things just got to me, my thoughts got away from me and I felt incredibly overwhelmed. My vision board just seemed to be mocking me. BUT today is a new day and I refuse to get sucked into those dark thoughts again. So, despite a lot of challenges in front of me, it’s forward, always forward.
Thanks for following up with the tracking, gosh what a nuisance. Nothing seems straight forward lately. Big hugs to you my lovely friend. xo

          17. Hi again Wendy. After my very down and out message this morning I just wanted to let you know that I just received my parcel this afternoon and I LOVE it. ❤️❤️ How is it possible that it came today, of all days? When I was feeling flat and overwhelmed about so much, and then you arrive in the form of gorgeous smelling and uplifting gifts. 😊
Haven’t had a chance to try anything but I know I will love them all. And the mug, the heart and all the cards, what can I say, I was close to tears. So beautiful and I’m so so grateful. Thank you so much lovely lady, not just for the beautiful gifts but for your friendship. Who knew that blogging would lead to meeting so many wonderful people like you? One day you and I will definitely share that cuppa, be it here, in Manchester or another world but It will happen. Thanks again Wendy and a HUGE hug to you. xo

          18. Oh FANTASTIC – that was meant to be then and I’m SO relieved that it’s arrived. We may not be face to face Miriam but we’re definitely already ‘sharing’ that brew and if one day it’s face to face then even better – another one to add to my Vision Board!
I hope you’re ok though Miriam.. I suspect underlying this feeling is not having your mums shoulder to rest on for a minute.. It’s still early days and when things go wrong, it highlights that ‘gap’… I have a feeling you’re being too hard on yourself and telling yourself to ‘snap out of it’… whereas sometimes Miriam, we just have to ‘go with it’, feel sorry for ourselves and have a good cry… and then we can start to re-focus on all the lovely things that are still here to enjoy… Get the kettle on and as you probably know, we solve all our problems here in the UK with a good cup of tea! HUGE hug returned Miriam… hopefully today was a ‘hug in a box’! xx

          19. Oh Wendy, today was definitely a ‘hug in a box’ day and I have you to thank for that. My hub says that we should put Hawaii on our vision board as a half way mark to meet for that cuppa (and maybe even a cocktail!). I kind of like that idea.
I was feeling a bit more upbeat this arvo anyway but I think you’re right about mum. I was thinking about her a lot yesterday and then everything else compounded it. Don’t think I even realise when it happens but yes, there is a gap, a void. And believe me, I do cry, sometimes too much and without even understanding why. But yes, yet again you’re right, I am hard on myself. But you’ll be pleased to know I’m shaking myself out of it. Tonight I’m going to have a cuppa in your mug and cheers to us. Hope you have a wonderful day. xo

          20. Hey fantastic and yet again… bizarre… as Hawaii is already on my Board… You’re hubby is right – that’s a great half way point! And yep… cocktails would definitely be the order of the day! I’m glad your feeling a bit brighter and enjoy your brew! Have a peaceful evening and wishing you a restful sleep…. Big hug xx

          21. Ha! Yep, once again we’re in sync. I just read your comment out to hub and we both had a chuckle. Hawaii it is then! Can’t wait. In the meantime I have a roast lamb dinner to serve up and a family to feed! Cheers and have a great day ahead Wendy. Big hug back xo 🍷

  2. Wendy, this is so helpful! Thank you. I love the creativity of it, good example with the researching countries for a dream of traveling the world.

One of my favorite quotes is,
“The moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”

  3. Exactly! And, while researching the cost of going to Italy, why not have a glass+ of a fine Italian wine? Yes! I’m getting this vision thing…. But, seriously, I totally agree and without at least a mental plan, it’s harder to reach any goal. I believe in the power of positive thinking and visualization. It has helped me get through some rough spots as well. Thanks for helping me see that breaking this down into steps could really help. Since reading a few of your posts about this, I’ve been trying to visualize how I will physically look while realizing my dream, while in the actual place. It helps my confidence. ❤

    1. Good for you Karen.. I’m with you visualising the Italian trip and getting into the ‘spirit’ of visualisation with the vino… I think that’s going to make it work even better! I’ll see you in Tuscany! haha…
It’s definitely helped me get through some tough spots too Karen and also brought some really great things into our life too – although sometimes in an unexpected way.. I’m definitely learning to put my faith into what happens.. I really love the idea of you visualising how you look physically when you realize your dream – a brilliant confidence booster! I’m going to take that golden nugget for myself too.. love it! x

  4. The wonderful word, “fear”. Fear entraps us all the time. It really isn’t even about the money it is about the fear … not having money, not knowing how to step out of your own way. Comfortable is known, what is not known causes fear. You just opened a big door for me Wendy. -Kim

  5. This is quite inspiring and to me, it’s more like an emphasis. I was at the place of worship yesterday, and the Pastor talked about “going forward, not standing still”. He related to the story of Moses and the Israelites, who were face to face with the red sea. God told them to go forward even though Moses’ first command was for them to stand still. Exodus 14:13-16
