I wrote and posted this poem originally following the Paris attack and sadly, the terror continues across the World, with this latest horror suffered in Nice. My thoughts remain with all those who have lost their families and friends in this and previous devastating attacks…..
TERRORIST ATROCITY
Such sadness surrounds this July monstrosity,
a vile and deadly terrorist atrocity!
Someday those responsible may suffer for their sin
but against democracy they’ll never win….
Sudden death, caused by those who’ve lost sight
of humanity, as they continue their bloody plight,
leaving us to mourn precious souls who lost their fight,
on these blighted and horror filled dark days and nights…
So now once again the World unites
and looks up to the light.
Like the phoenix, we must rise high above
to stand true and strong in our love,
sharing our grief, sadness and true pity
for the tragic losses in our beautiful cities.
Hi Wendy, yes what to say about what happened in Nice. So sad is the state of the world. Your poem is beautiful the sentiments are beautiful … love the whole poem …especially this bit.
Sudden death, caused by those who’ve lost sight
of humanity, as they continue their bloody plight,
leaving us to mourn precious souls who lost their fight,
on these blighted and horror filled dark days and nights…

Poignant, powerful. Honestly, not sure of what else to say. Shame we couldn’t concentrate our creative efforts on flowers, the stars, and love. The sorrow in our hearts require that we express our pain. Great write. I hope one day the hate will disappear.
Have a lovely weekend.

Thanks Sumith – it’s so sad that we don’t even understand what the battle is for… We are all just humans living on the same small planet within the same universe… x

Touching, powerful, sad, heartfelt poem Wendy… your words are so eloquent for what was such a shocking and horrifying event. But you’re right, we can’t give up hope for a good world and for love to override hate. Sending peace and hugs. xo

Thanks so much Miriam. You’re right – Hope is so important and it’s not easy when something so awful happens and so many innocent people lose their lives.. I send peace, happiness and hugs in return.. xx

Ooo how lovely – It’s 6 a.m. Sunday morning here now too with no hint of sunshine on the cards for today – The summer here in Manchester has been non existent so far.. However we are told that on Tuesday we are going to have 1 day of sunshine and it’s going to be the hottest day of the year so far .. I’m not going to hold my breath though. It sounds perfect – I love the cool sun – what season are you in – it sounds like a Spring sunshine? Enjoy! x

We’re actually in winter, believe it or not. So the sunshine today was lovely and very welcome. It was also very windy (which dried all my clothes!) so I can’t really complain.
Enjoy Tuesday, and it’s predicted sunshine! xo

Well weather wise then it sounds like we’re sharing similar times – probably just a bit wetter. Oh lovely – freshly dried wind blown washing.. For me it’s been the tumble drier all year! x

Well said. Amen! It’s terrible that so many innocent lives are lost to no purpose.

Thanks so much – it is truly terrible and so sad that we can’t even understand what the grievances now are that these people are fighting against. Thank you for your comment – I appreciate hearing your thoughts too.. x
