The Wheel of Life…

I’ve found the Wheel of Life to be a great tool to use myself and with hypnotherapy clients over the years to quickly identify some life areas which can be improved. There are lots of examples of this tool on the web which can easily be printed off and are all very similar to the image below:

How to use The Wheel of Life:

Using a scoring of 1-10 (1 being poor – needs improvement and 10 being amazing), place a score in each category around the wheel which you feel represents where you currently are.

For example: Physical and Health – for me this would currently be a low score of 2 – I’ve just been diagnosed with diabetes, I’m overweight, working long hours and haven’t found time to exercise for the last year…

By placing a score in each segment, you can see quite quickly which areas to prioritise for taking action to improve. The circle represents the link between each of the key areas of your life. If you are scoring low in one area, it’s likely to have a knock on effect in other areas of your life too….

I recently received an invite to a night out with friends which I declined – Why? Because I don’t feel well enough at the moment. So my low score in Health is now having a knock on effect on my social life and family relationships. By focussing attention on improving my score on the ‘health’ section, it’s likely that my score will improve in other areas of the wheel and my life as well….

So now you have a visual representation of how you feel about the different areas of your life – WHAT NOW?

First is looking at your Life Purpose/Your vision i.e. How do you want to live your life, what are your ambitions, what things would you like to be doing, what would you like to see in your life etc.

Once you have a clear vision then it’s possible to start setting some goals and taking action toward turning your dreams into reality….

If you’ve found yourself drifting through life, taking some simple steps can make a massive difference. Starting with something small and easily achievable is great as this helps create belief that change is possible….

For example: I need to lose at least 3 stone to help improve my health – this seems hard so if I break this down into smaller short term weekly goals e.g. I want to lose 2lb this week, it feels more achievable and realistic – if feels like something I can take action to improve..

Watch out for some guidance about creating a vision for your life and setting effective goals – coming soon…..

    1. Fabulous Bella – Let me know how you get on.. What I’ve found working with clients over the years is that when they score low in one area, it really does have a knock on effect on all the other areas too.. Sometimes a small change makes a big difference! x
